The Reunion spirit was alive and well among this year’s honoured classes, despite the cancellation of reunion events due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Class Reps came together in a big way to connect and celebrate with their respective classes. From hosting virtual events, submitting their favourite photographs and memories on Facebook, to submitting their words of encouragement to the class of 2T0!

This enthusiastic spirit only continued, as Reunion classes quickly answered the call to help raise much needed funds for urgent bursary support as COVID-19 unexpectedly emerged and many of our students were financially impacted by the pandemic. To date Reunion Classes have helped to raise more than $316,000 for Urgent Bursary Support at Trinity.

“We are grateful to the Reunion Classes of 2020 and to all donors who have supported Trinity’s Urgent Bursary needs to date. Donor support has been, and continues to be, vital during this unprecedented time. Your donations have an immediate impact on students struggling financially” Alana Silverman, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Affairs.

The immediate impact of COVID-19 saw over 100 requests from Trinity students for emergency funds in the first few weeks of the pandemic alone. These requests for funds helped to assist with lost income, unanticipated travel expenses, and other emergency costs associated with the pandemic. The College anticipates that requests for financial support will only increase and continue well into the fall, with many Trinity students having lost their ability to save over the summer. Continued donor support for urgent bursary needs will help ensure the College has the funds required to assist students, as the pandemic continues to disrupt employment opportunities for students and their families.
